Looking forward to hearing people's views, I've tried to cover most of the obvious information people might have asked me in reply.let me know if you need anything else. So that's my dilema/problem/query.sorry for the long post.
I have £200 to spend on Cubase 5, though if there is not huge benefit (now or future when I've learned more or making full use of all the features) of having the full version, would I be better off going for a lesser version and spending more money on my rig?. Is having the extra plugins (such as Reverence) and other features worth paying extra for (even though I might not use them now, I might learn how to use them all later on)?. (I also have Reason 4 already if that helps). I will of course require the option to add some synths, samples here and there, but will not need a huge library of them. These recordings will consist of guitar tracks (electric and acoustic), keyboard, drums, bass and vocals. I will not therefore be using that many samples.etc, nor working hugely with midi (apart from electric drums midi). I'm a guitarist, and will mainly be using Cubase to mix and master my band's recordings. Now whilst I took a 2 term (semester) course in using Cubase, I wouldn't in a long shot call myself a knowledgeable I am learning more and more as I use it and try out new things. (I'm a student so can get cheaper prices if you're wondering.) 
I'm currently running Cubase SX3 on an ACER laptop (which goes pretty slow.) with a M-Audio Fast Track Ultra as a USB interface, but I am hoping to upgrade to Cubase 5 with my new rig. Anway onto my question (I thought it might be useful to know my setup). It will be an i7 920 build with 6GB RAM.etc, so hopefully up to my needs.
I am building a new PC in the next week or two, which will act as my new DAW amongst other things. I'm sorry if this has been covered before (or if this is in the wrong section of the forum), but I'm pretty new to this whole forum stuff, and in my google searching I've yet to find an answer to my needs.
